Is Being “Plugged In” Changing Campus Life?

In the article “Is being ‘Plugged In’ Changing Campus Life? A Conversation between,” Ethan, and Meg talks about how technologies is taking over campus life at school. School activities are diminishing due to no participation from students because most students are too busy communicating with each other through technologies. The sentences that really caught my attention were when Meg quoted, “On campus the other day, I watched two students walking together. Faces turned in opposite directions, each talking on a cell phone, they were physically together but were not interacting. Oh my god!! I totally agree with this quote because it’s so true now a day, you see people are doing this. For example, myself when I’m out eating or walking to class with my friends, I would take out my phone and I would call, text, or go check my Facebook account and reads people status. In this case, one of my friends who don’t have a smart phone or Facebook, she would get really mad because I would be on my phone and not talks to her. This quote makes me mad at myself sometime because I feel bad how these technologies can isolate us from our friends and family. Also, it can lead to an addition were you don’t pay any attention of what is going on in life such as news because you too caught up with all of these technologies. Therefore, lack of success can lead in and most students won’t get involved with school activities.
